Hi, my name is Morgan Finlay and I’m a Canadian-Irish singer-songwriter from Vancouver, who’s been touring professionally in Europe for eleven years. This summer I have decided to ride a bike across Germany, 1500 kilometres from the Swiss border to the Danish one.

Truth is, I am an ‘urban rider’... more of a city-runner than a distance cyclist. But I love a good challenge. And I love Germany!

The ‘Good Winds Bike Tour’ begins on Sunday, July 17th in Basel, and wraps up on Friday, August 12th in Flensburg. The twenty-six day schedule of stops, over Karlsruhe, Nürnberg, Dresden, Magdeburg and Hamburg will bring me through some beautiful parts of the country. I’ve begun posting daily on my blog during the training period, and will take the internet along for the entire ride at goodwindsbiketour.com.

The reasons why I decided to ride the Good Winds Bike Tour are because I love beautiful, natural Germany, and I’m eager to see the backroads that run through it; because I am trying to escape the hottest part of the summer back home in Sevilla; because I want to challenge myself, physically and mentally; and because I want to bring people together.

On the ride I will play six exclusive ‘living room concerts’ where I will roll into town, and play an intimate concert (with a guitar that my host provides) for a group of friends and acquaintances. These are sure to be super connected and absolutely highlight summer evenings! At the end of the trip I plan to auction off my bike and donate the proceeds to Lebenshilfe, a German-wide organization that supports mental health and special needs folks.

The Good Winds Bike Tour already has a German nickname; ‘die bekloppte Fahrrad Tour.’ It’s going to be an unbelievable trip and I’m so glad to have so many great people and sponsors on board! I hope that this trip will inspire people to get active, and challenge themselves a little beyond what they know.
